Heritage & Historic Landscapes

English Heritage Sites

Carried out a condition survey of the landscape features of four English Heritage sites and made recommendations for any improvement works required.

Surveyors visited the sites during March before the start of the main visitor season, to record the condition of the sites with particular reference to erosion control, damage by rabbits, invasive plants and appropriateness of grazing regimes, protective fencing, trees posing threats to visitors, deteriorating metalwork, signage, site furniture etc.

Recommendations were made for grazing regimes, fence replacement, footpath surfacing, rabbit control, vegetation removal etc.

NJL ecologist licensed for bat surveys accompanied the architect on his survey of Haughmond Abbey and carried out a protected species survey of the site.
