Carried out a condition survey of the landscape features of four English Heritage sites and made recommendations for any improvement works required. Surveyors visited the sites during March before the start of the main visitor season, to record the condition of the sites with particular reference to erosion control, damage by rabbits, invasive plants and appropriateness of grazing regimes, protective fencing, trees posing threats to visitors, deteriorating metalwork, signage, site furniture etc.
Recommendations were made for grazing regimes, fence replacement, footpath surfacing, rabbit control, vegetation removal etc.
NJL ecologist licensed for bat surveys accompanied the architect on his survey of Haughmond Abbey and carried out a protected species survey of the site. Insall Associates/English Heritage

Brogyntyn Park & Pleasure Grounds, Shropshire Subsequent to completion of the Brogyntyn Park and Pleasure Grounds Conservation Plan (2002) of thie important Grade II Park near Oswestry, NJL were again commissioned to prepare a detailed Management Plan for the repair and maintenance of historic features, the design of new landscape elements associated with the conversion of onsite buildings for residential use as well as future management requirements of the new gardens and historic parkland.
Work involved various landscape, habitat and protected species surveys, the setting out of policy proposals for the conservation works and to design proposals for landscape works associated with conversion of the buildings on the estate to residential developments with the goal of increasing aesthetic and property value and ensuring the security and privacy of residents.
